Google Pack contains free Norton Security Scan antivirus that is a simple yet effective antivirus scanner.
What sets Norton Security Scan apart from other antiviruses is its simplicity. It does not integrate with the operating system on your computer - it simply scans your files, memory and registry and cleans them of viruses and worms. Norton Security Scan happily co-exists with almost any other antivirus application without any conflicts. According to Symantec, "There are no known conflicts between Norton Security Scan and other applications." It is a good idea to install this scanner as at least your "backup" antivirus software - especially if you are using another free anti-virus to protect your PC.  Periodically running Norton Security Scan on your machine will help you make sure that you get no nasty surprises that could've been missed by your "main" antivirus. This way you get double protection - and it comes free! As a downside, Windows won't recognize Norton Security Scan as an antivirus application, and, if you have no other antivirus installed, you will get alerts from Windows Security Center saying that your computer is at risk and not protected.
 Norton Security Scan has good detection rates and provides frequent automatic virus database updates. It comes with a scheduler - scans can be scheduled to run weekly. Being backed by one of the antivirus industry heavyweights - Norton - means that you are very unlikely to get unpleasant surprises while using it.
Pros: - Extremely easy-to-use. There are no boxes to check, no options to choose from - virtually nothing that could get you confused. You just hit the "Start Scan" button and it scans your PC - as simple as that.

Cons:
Doesn't provide real-time protection. This is an on-demand scanner only, so it does not run in the background - you have to specifically run the software to check your computer for viruses. It is recommended that you install the PC Tools Spyware Doctor that is also part of the Google Pack.
Our Verdict:
Recommended. A regular PC health check by one of the biggest names in the antivirus business - Norton - for free is a deal to good to miss. Also recommend installing it together with another free antivirus to achieve additional protection.
